Compliance & Guidelines – WALZ Normalien

Maximum legal certainty thanks to certified marking technology

In modern tool and mold making, compliance with legal standards is not an optional extra, but an economic necessity. The demands for complete documentation and quality assurance are constantly increasing. At WALZ Normalien, we do not regard our products as mere small parts, but as functionally relevant components of your production chain.

CE conformity according to Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC

Many users wonder whether small components such as date stamps are even subject to CE marking requirements. The answer lies in the function: Depending on the type, our date stamps have moving components, such as precise locking and reset mechanisms with defined spring force. When installed, these components directly affect the production process of the injection mold. They thus perform a functionally relevant task within a larger machine unit.

For this reason, we at Walz systematically evaluate our date stamps within the scope of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. Our goal is to provide you with components that make your entire system legally compliant. In the evaluation process, we take into account 3 critical factors in particular:

  1. The mechanical movements and restoring forces that occur.

  2. Possible hazards during assembly, during operation and during maintenance intervals.

  3. The intended integration into complex injection molds.

The result of this process is clear: All date stamps from our company meet the relevant requirements and are designed to be CE-compliant.

Structured conformity assessment procedure

The basis for our confidence in our own products is a conformity assessment procedure established within the company. We do not rely on random samples, but follow a structured protocol. This procedure includes a detailed analysis of the use in the injection mold as well as the identification of mechanical hazards caused by spring forces or specific installation situations.

In addition, we derive constructive measures to minimize risk and check materials, fits and surfaces for their suitability for permanent industrial use. Every technical documentation is immediately checked and updated in the event of product changes, new sizes or adjustments in the supply chain. In this way, we ensure that our standard parts offer reproducible safety even in large series production.

Transparent documentation: Declarations of conformity on request

In machine construction practice, date stamps are usually installed as bulk goods in large quantities. It is therefore common and more efficient in the industry to keep conformity documents centrally available instead of enclosing paper documents with each individual shipment.

At WALZ Normalien, a clear principle therefore applies: All CE conformity assessments are fully documented in our system. We keep all relevant documents available for you to access. Should you require an official declaration for an audit or specific machine documentation, we will provide it to you at short notice upon request. This procedure is firmly established and accepted by well-known OEMs and in professional quality assurance systems.

REACH & RoHS conformity through material strategy

In addition to mechanical safety, material conformity is playing an increasingly important role. Our products are fully RoHS-compliant and contain no prohibited substances. They also meet the requirements of the REACH regulation as articles without intended release of substances.

What clearly sets us apart from the competition here is our consistent material strategy. While many market participants rely on changing materials or purchased parts without proof of origin, Walz invests in fixed supply chains. We use specifically selected, constant materials and stable alloys. Mill test certificates and material certificates are available for every steel used. Through this systematic evaluation of the ingredients, we guarantee you a level of security that goes far beyond the market standard.
